Over the years, I have been asked these questions the most:
What products do you use?
Mostly Redken for styling, coloring and highlighting. I have tried other lines, but I always come back to Redken. I really think it is the best.
Are you the only stylist here?
Yep. I have 2 stations that I use to service two clients at a time. I keep saying I’m going to get an assistant – but I haven’t yet. I am getting to the point where I’m going to need one soon. When I do – I promise she will give the most amazing shampoos.
How long have you had your own shop?
I opened Blonde Girl Studio in February 2011. Recently, I have decided to redecorate – so, if you come by during the storm, I apologize for the mess.
Does your dog come to work with you? What kind of dog is Guinness?
Guinness is a mix of many breeds. German Shepherd is what showed up at the top of the DNA test, along with a bunch of other breeds- big and small. Yes, he was named after the beer because he is black and tan.
Guinness does not come with me to work everyday. Most days he is at Wags and Wiggles – a Doggie day care in RSM. I got him at 9 weeks in April 2021 after my Chihuahua, Sunshine, passed away. As a puppy, Guinness has loads of energy – so on my super busy days, I drop him off to have fun with his “fur-iends”.
******* Although it might sound like a good idea to bring in a “friend” for Guinness to meet, we prefer him being the only dog at the salon.*******
How did you start specializing in Blonde hair? Do you ONLY work on Blondes?
I have been a hair stylist in South Orange County for over 20 years. About 10 years ago I decided to specialize in blonde hair color. It has been, by far, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
My blonde clients are so relieved to have found a hair stylist who “finally got it right”. Armed with that kind of feedback, I enthusiastically dove into the world of BLONDE artistry.
I have spoken to several women who have been on that never ending quest to find the perfect blonde. What they usually end up with is hair that is damaged and not even close to what they’ve asked for. Tired of hearing this scenario over and over, I took my years of being a color specialist and dedicated my efforts to creating gorgeous blonde hair.
I do have some clients that don’t have blonde hair. I spent the first 10 years of my career as a color specialist. I have certifications from schwarzkopf as a master colorist and from Redken as a color specialist. I have expertise in all colors – I just prefer to focus on Blonde.
Why don’t you use heat?
I don’t think it’s necessary to bake my formula to make it work. I find that heat might make the bleach work faster, but the results are certainly not better. Because I am such a speedy foiler – I can give a little extra time for processing and still be able to complete the service without my clients getting too sick of me.
